Cape Town - The Golden Lions, thanks to two late tries from No 8 Hacjivah Dayimani, beat the Blue Bulls 38-35 in an 10-try thriller at Loftus on Saturday.
While both defences struggled, the contest was a fantastic advertisement for Currie Cup rugby.
Openside flanker Ruan Steenkamp scored a hat-trick for the Blue Bulls, who took a 28-21 lead into half-time, but in the end the defence and discipline of the hosts cost them dearly.
The result means that the Golden Lions are two from two this Currie Cup season, while the Blue Bulls have won one and lost two.
