Cape Town - The Free State Cheetahs were much-improved, but in the end it wasn't enough as they fell to a 33-29 loss to the Sharks in a Currie Cup clash in Bloemfontein.

The hosts, inspired by a superb performance from flyhalf Louis Fouche, took a 15-12 lead into half-time but could not hold in.

The Sharks scored five tries to four from the Cheetahs as coach Robert du Preez's men secured their second win in as many matches.

The Cheetahs, meanwhile, have lost three in a row.
